How does it work?
The Plasma Pen delivers soft surgery plasma fibroblasting by converting electrical energy into gaseous diatomic molecular nitrogen that transmits the energized gas in a non-contact way to the skin’s surface. This causes a micro-trauma to the skin’s epidermal layer (top layer) whilst simultaneously heating and disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction from above. This treatment is also know as fibroblasting. Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body that produce collagen. Collagen continues to be produced for 3 months after treatment so some immediate results are seen but lines and tightening of the skin continue to improve for 3 months after treatment.
What areas of the body can be treated with plasma pen?
Fibroblasting produces excellent results for any area of the body, particularly the face and neck regions.
Gives outstanding results which you would normally only expect after surgery but there are no scalpels and no suturing involved. The excess eyelid skin is sublimated using the plasma beam without damage to the basement membrane, muscle or other underlying structures.
How long will it take to see results?
Plasma Pen skin tightening results are very impressive but should not be proposed as an alternative to surgery in cases of moderate to severe skin laxity. Only surgery can achieve these results. You will typically see immediate tightening along with cumulative improvements over the next three months in the appearance of saggy skin. In some cases it may require more than one session depending on the desired result. Results are long-lasting – usually around 2-3 years and can be permanent.
Is it painful?
Depending on the area being treated your session may last between 60-240 minutes. Topical anaesthetic is applied for 30 minutes prior to commencement. The treatment itself is mildly to moderately uncomfortable. Everyone’s pain levels are different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others.
What downtime can I expect after my plasma pen treatment?
The downtime from the plasma pen is less than cosmetic surgery, however there is an average of 8 days downtime on the face and neck areas, and an average of 10-14 days on the body. The area is usually red and swollen for 3 days following the treatment. Swelling peaks at 3 days and then begins to subside. Scabs form and these typically begin to fall off on day 6 or 7.
